I was blown away this week when I got a phone call from the Red Cross Gala to be a designer for their event this year.  The gala, typically held atop Union Square, is making its debut at the San Francisco Design Center.  With Elle Decor sponsoring, the gala is taking on a new theme: Hope by Design.  The impetus for incorporating design with the work of the Red Cross is that when disaster strikes, we have hope - not by accident, but by design.

Thirty designers (including yours truly!) are creating individual ten-top tables to line the center of the room, flanked by standard tables on either side.  Each designer table will be completely unique - our only guidelines were to incorporate the Red Cross and use a black/white/gray/red palette.
